Welcome Home Wilson!

We are so excited to announce the newest addition to our family - Wilson Woodrow Widney!

Our family has wanted a dog for YEARS!!! We wanted to be sure the kids were old enough to treat a dog properly, help in the care and keeping of a dog, and that the dog would be able to handle a home with children. We all really wanted a dog.

J and I took a drive to our local no kill shelter the last Saturday in March. On the way there, I repeated over and over and over: "We are NOT leaving with a dog. We are NOT leaving with a dog." Yeah. J didn't believe me either.

We ALMOST made it out though. We walked ALL through PAWS. The dogs we wanted were for adults only and not children. And there were some interesting dogs but none that we really had a connection with. Then we saw Fred. He was just sitting there looking sad. A scrawny, almost bald, sad white dog. People were just walking straight past him.

J pulled up Fred's info sheet outside his door. The pic (below) was of a dog with so much hair you couldn't see his eyes!!! He looked like a miniature sheep dog mixed with a Jim Henson Muppet.

Reading the info sheet confirmed what we thought - poodle mix!!! A 2-year old poodle mix that was rescued as a stray with his sister, Wilma. At PAWS, they were named Fred and Wilma. Wilma was adopted a few days before. We went in and met Fred.

Fred was in the room that Oprah had donated in honor of her beloved dog, Sophie. The room is so nice and has a great chandelier. We were told that all members of our family had to be there. So, we didn't go home with a dog. That day. The next day, Sunday, we returned with kids in tow.

We all got along wonderfully with Wilson and went home with him a little bit later that day. Our family of four had become a family of five!
